Horimiya manga makes a comeback after 12 years
Daisuke Aizawa’s manga adaptation of Hero’s popular four-panel series, “Hori-san to Miyamura-kun,” widely known as “Horimiya,” is making a highly anticipated return with new chapters. These upcoming installments will be published in three issues of Gangan Comics’ shonen manga magazine, Monthly GFantasy, starting from July 18, 2023.
The three chapters will be compiled into the 17th volume, titled “A Piece of Memories,” which promises not only new chapters but also additional bonus content. In an exciting announcement on social media, Aizawa mentioned that Hero will release a special edition book called “Memorial Book Bonus Track,” featuring a brand new illustration.

Hero and Daisuke Aizawa have yet to disclose the specific content that will be covered in the upcoming chapters of the Horimiya manga. Despite the manga’s initial conclusion in December 2011, there is still a possibility for the original plot to be properly concluded. The series was expected to reach its climax when Kyouko and Izumi finally expressed their true feelings for each other.
However, due to the presence of unresolved plot holes in the original storyline, fans remained hopeful that Hero and Daisuke Aizawa would eventually resume the series and provide a satisfactory conclusion.
It is anticipated that the future chapters will revolve around the couple and their friends embarking on a vacation, a recurring theme in the slice-of-life series, as the main characters have now graduated from school. This particular storyline adds to the anticipation surrounding the upcoming chapters of Horimiya.

Adding to the excitement, it was announced at Anime Japan 2023 that the series will receive a new anime adaptation titled Horimiya -piece-. This adaptation will cover the forgotten chapters from the original manga. Masashi Ishihama will once again take the director’s seat at Cloverworks studio.
Fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the previous staff and cast members will be reprising their roles for this new installment. Horimiya -piece- is set to premiere in July 2023, although the exact date has yet to be revealed. “At first glance, the ultra-popular Hori-san seems like a frivolous high school girl, but in reality, she’s plain, pragmatic, and family-oriented. On the other hand, the bespectacled Miyamura-kun comes across as an average, gloomy high school fanboy, but he’s actually an attractive young man who has a bad-boy streak and is covered in piercings and tattoos. When these two unexpectedly similar classmates have a random run-in outside of the classroom, a bubbly, sweet tale of school life begins!”
